I collected many events from the Library pages (Events Calendar - Western Counties Regional Library) and it looks like the Halloween events are really starting to add up.

This Week's Events (Oct 16-23) (posters)

October Art Exhibition - Floyd Gale (Digby Library)

Digby Library. This exhibit features the wildlife paintings of Weymouth artist Floyd Gale. The exhibit can be viewed during open hours in October.

Fri Oct 17 Scroll Smarter (Weymouth)

10-11am Weymouth Library. In our current world, social media is everywhere and we are flooded with information. Every day it becomes more challenging to determine if what we’re seeing is real or fake. In this program we will discover what misinformation is, and discuss methods to identify fake news and find reliable sources of information. This program is for adults.

6pm on Fri; 2pm and 6pm on Saturday. 2pm Sunday. Kings Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Adults $20. Community Theatre. Come and see our talented local cast, aged 6-18, bring the magical world of Alice Through the Looking Glass to life! Follow Alice as she steps through the mirror into a wondrous land filled with incredible adventures. Watch as she discovers the Talking Flowers Garden, laughs along with the silly Tweedles, and learns how to be a Queen in a fantastical game of chess.

10 am – 2 pm Nova Scotia Works, Evangeline Mall, 87 Warwick St. Digby. Come meet representatives from federal and provincial departments, along with local community organizations! Everyone is welcome to attend and the event is free!


Wed Oct 29 Halloween Dance

7-9pm St. Mary’s Bay Academy, Weymouth. $7 or $5 with non-perishable food donation. Hosted by the SMBA Yearbook Committee. Costumes Optional.


Fri Oct 31 Trick-or-Treat!

10:00 am - 5:00 pm Digby Library. Children can stop by the library wearing their Halloween costume and get a treat … if they dare!


Fri Oct 31 Trunk or Treat

5:30 – 7:30 pm Smith’s Cove Fire Dept. 43 North Old Post Road. Prizes for Best Display, Best costume. No forms to be filled out, no pre registration required. Just show up, setup and enjoy amongst community while treaters of all ages have a safe space for candy.


Fri Oct 31 Halloween Drive-through

November Art Exhibition Digby Alvina Theriault LeBlanc

Digby Library. This exhibit features the watercolour work of Alvina Theriault LeBlanc. A French Acadian from Belliveau’s Cove, the artist has been interested in painting since her childhood. She has taken it more seriously over the past several years, painting anything and everything that catches her eye. Mostly self-taught, she has also taken courses from various artists, concentrating on watercolours. The exhibit can be viewed during open hours in November.

Sun Nov 16 The Grace Coffee Café presents Corbett & Thurber

2:30 – 4:30 pm Grace United Church, 15 Prince William Street, Digby. An afternoon of music and refreshments. Freewill offering. Fundraiser for Bear River New Horizon’s Senior Group.


Tue Nov 18 A Paint Party

6-7:30pm Weymouth Waterfront Library. Using library paint party kits, adults can paint on pre-printed canvases. There are choices of painting a snowman or a Christmas tree. All supplies are provided. Space is limited so register before 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 by contacting the library.


Tue Dec 9 Cookie Exchange & Game Night

6-7:30pm Weymouth Waterfront Library. Back by popular demand! This is a fun evening of laughter and a taste of cookies. Participants are asked to bring three dozen cookies of the same kind and the recipe. Please register before Saturday, Dec. 6 by contacting the library.


Tue Dec 16 Create a Christmas Card

6-7:30pm Weymouth Waterfront Library. Children aged 8 to 12 can create a special pop-up Christmas tree card. All supplies are provided. Space is limited, so register no later than 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 by contacting the library.
