Weymouth Library May Exhibition: The Gifts of Mother Earth

Debbie LeBlanc Kilpatrick is an Acadian artist from Clare. She started painting as a young girl. As she has grown as an artist, she has developed a style which captures the beauty of the land and sea.


Digby Library May Exhibition: Hika’s Folk Art

This exhibit offers folk art paintings on canvas and wood, featuring a variety of animals by artist Hika Wagner. The artist has been painting since 2001 on driftwood, canvas, rocks, and buoys. She mostly paints animals and her favourite subjects are cats.


Fri May 02 Discover Your Device (Weymouth)

10 – 11am Weymouth Library. Adults can learn how to use the basic functions of their phone or tablet. This includes the ins-and-outs of their device menus and settings, and taking photos and sending texts. Register no later than Wednesday, April 30 by contacting the library.

Sat May 03 Fruit Machine

7:30pm King’s Theatre. Live Theatre. Runtime: 70 minutes, no intermission. Adult: $35 Limited Income: $25. Youth: $15. Created with a primarily queer ensemble and creative team, Fruit Machine shines a light on the barbaric practices and the unfair treatment of queer individuals in Canadian history and creates space for 2SLGBTQIA+ artists to take ownership of their history, and their stories.

This exhibit features the watercolour paintings of artist Alvina LeBlanc. Alvina LeBlanc is an Acadian from Belliveau’s Cove.

Fri Jul 4 Desert Hearts

7:30pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Film, ‧ Romance/Drama ‧ indie. R. FREE! Donna Deitch’s swooning and sensual first narrative feature, Desert Hearts, was groundbreaking upon its release in 1985: a love story about two women, made entirely independently, on a shoestring budget, by a woman. In this 1959-set film, adapted from a beloved novel by Jane Rule, straitlaced East Coast professor Vivian Bell (Helen Shaver) arrives in Reno to file for divorce but winds up catching the eye of someone new, the free-spirited young Cay (Patricia Charbonneau), touching off a slow seduction that unfolds against a breathtaking desert landscape. With undeniable chemistry between its two leads, an evocative jukebox soundtrack, and vivid cinematography by Robert Elswit, Desert Hearts beautifully exudes a sense of tender yearning and emotional candor.

Mon Jul 21- 25. 5-day Dance Theatre Camp for Youth

10 am – 2 pm, King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Theatre workshop. ages 7-12 with Wendy Goudie. The costumes, the music, the moves… Creating a dance show is powerful! Participants will spend an exciting week pushing their dancing to the limit, to learn and co-create their own original dance show. Friday July 25th performance at 2pm at Kings Theatre, and Saturday, July 26th at the Cherry Carnival in Bear River! Dance styles include bellydance, bhangra, bollywood, flamenco, salsa, hip hop, break dance, jazz, ballet and more. This week is a creativity & confidence booster! Campers will work as a team to create and rehearse a full show in 5 days, manage lighting quick costume changes, and ‘run their own show’ behind the scenes.


Sat Jul 26 The Best of Boxwood

The Best of Boxwood celebrates the energetic, traditional dance music of Maritimes Canada, Scotland, Ireland and more, and showcases the fruits of 25 years of collaborations.

Sun Jul 27 The Alan Jackson Experience

7 pm King’s Theatre. Music, tribute. $47.25The Alan Jackson Experience is an internationally recognized tribute performed by ISSA Entertainer of the Year award winner Aaron Halliday. The look, stage presence, and sound will have you believing you are at an actual Alan Jackson concert. The show prides itself on having the best musicians in the country perform along side Aaron which has led to a world class act. This years tour, aptly named the “Margaritaville” tour, will bring you all of the AJ classics along with his Jimmy Buffet inspired songs to give the performance a tropical beachy overtone.
