Back to school! Which means for me that the August calendar has closed, the November one has been started, and the first of the Christmas markets are scheduled!

Sat Sep 6 Christina Martin

7:30pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Live Music & storytelling. Adults $40. Experience an unforgettable evening of music and storytelling with award-winning artist Christina Martin, performing with her trio PLUS a string trio, together for one incredible show.


Sun Sep 7 Bad Guys 2

3pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Animation, film. Adults $11.95. Everyone’s favorite felons are back, and this time, they’ve got company. In the new action-packed chapter from DreamWorks Animation’s acclaimed comedy smash about a crackerjack crew of animal outlaws, our now-reformed Bad Guys are trying (very, very hard) to be good, but instead find themselves hijacked into a high-stakes, globe-trotting heist, masterminded by a new team of criminals they never saw coming: The Bad Girls.


Tue Sep 9 Magic Science

6 to 7 p.m. Clare Library, 29 Chemin Haché, Meteghan. Children aged 5 to 10 can join library staff and explore illusions and magic tricks through a variety of science experiments. Register no later than Thursday, Sept. 4 by contacting the library.


Wed Sep 10 Ambiguous Loss Workshop

10 am – 12 pm Digby Pines, Phone 902-422-5000. Brain Injury Association of NS. Ambiguous loss leaves us stuck in uncertainty, making healing feel impossible. This workshop will help you develop lifelong skills to cope and find meaningful ways to move forward. Join us for a FREE Ambiguous Loss Workshop — a unique opportunity to understand and navigate the confusing grief that comes with loss that has no clear answers.


Wed Sep 10 “Say Hello!” to YREACH at the Library

3 to 4:30 p.m. Digby Library. Join Cathy from YREACH for a story time, craft, and a snack. The featured book is Say Hello by Rachel Isadora, a story about making friends and learning about other cultures. This program is for children aged 3 to 8. Register no later than Tuesday, Sept. 9 by contacting the library. Walk-ins are welcome.

Thu Sept 25 Benj Rowland – Live Folk Music

7pm Oakdene Centre, Bear River. $15. Don’t miss an evening of beautiful, haunting folk music with Benj Rowland—the gifted instrumentalist and songwriter known for his work with Canadian duo Mayhemingways. His solo album Community Garden is a heartfelt collection of songs rooted in resilience, place, and quiet wonder. With raw honesty and rich soundscapes, Benj’s live performance promises to be nothing short of enchanting.


Thur Oct 2 The Lifer's Honesty Album Release — with special guest SOUL RAE

8 pm Oakdene Centre, Bear River. The Lifers embarked on their first cross-Canada tour in 2015 and have since earned their place as a powerful live act, deeply respected within multiple music scenes across Canada, the US, and Europe. Their new album Honesty, produced by Sam Gleason (Jeremy Dutcher, Charlotte Cornfield), is a collection of post-folk caresses and indie-rock bangers, addressing sexual trauma and intergenerational pain with compassionate strength.


Oct 31 Halloween Dance in aid of MS Society.

9pm – 1 am Meteghan Fire Hall. 31 Connector Road.$10 at the door. Cash bar only Must be 19 years old. Come join us with your Halloween Costume and dance the night away with DJ Avery d’Entremont! Prizes for best costumes 50/50 table. Door prize!

Nov 22 Bear River Wintertide Craft Fair and village wide market

10 am – 3 pm Oakdene Centre (1913 Clementsvale Rd) and multiple craft fairs, galleries, shops, and restaurants as the entire village celebrates the winter season!
