I have collected events from King's Theatre and the libraries, so there is a bunch of new items this week, reaching into February. Next week we will print the Jan-Feb issue.

Fri Jan 9 The Princess Bride
7pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Film, Adventure, Fantasy. Free. PG. bedridden boy’s grandfather reads him the story of a farmboy-turned-pirate who encounters numerous obstacles, enemies and allies in his quest to be reunited with his true love.

2pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Film, 14A. Adults $11.95. Sisters Nora and Agnes reunite with their estranged father, the charismatic Gustav, a once-renowned director who offers stage actress Nora a role in what he hopes will be his comeback film. When Nora turns it down, she soon discovers he has given her part to an eager young Hollywood star.

Wed Jan 14 Seniors’ Day Safety Q&A
1-3pm Bear River & Area Community Health Clinic. We’ll have Dawn Thomas joining us at the clinic on Wednesday Jan 14 from 1-3pm for a Senior’s Safety presentation and Q&A. We’ll be talking about how to stay independent and safe living at home, dealing with memory loss, and what to do if you feel like someone isn’t safe on their own
You don’t have to be a senior to attend! Warm drinks and snacks provided, free/free will donation at the door

Tue Jan 20 Own Your Flow: Period product giveaway & info session
5 – 7 pm Weymouth Library. We are hosting a period product giveaway! Come take a look and learn more about sustainable period products. We will have period underwear, reusable pads, menstrual cups, and menstrual discs. Put your name in the draw to win some for free! We will be touring each library branch to show examples of the products. Keep an eye out for when we visit your local library.

Sat 12 noon – 5 pm. Sunday 9am – 2pm. King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Free. Community Theatre workshop. Ages 12 – Adult. with Alex McLean. Using theatre games and exercises, we will to cover: Basic principles of movement and stage/spatial awareness; Exploration of ‘the fixed point’; ‘Presence’. Space is limited and Registration is required.
Tue Jan 27 Cribbage Night
6 – 7pm Weymouth Library. Adults or teens can play a few games of cribbage and meet new people who enjoy the game. Boards and cards will be set up.

Her creative performances often weave together music, storytelling, and visual art to explore themes of identity, culture, and connection.
Tue Feb 10 Valentine’s Day Cards
6 – 7 pm Weymouth Library. Children aged 6 to 12 can create their own cards to give to friends, teachers, or family members. All supplies will be provided. Register no later than Saturday, Feb. 7 by contacting the library.

Sat Feb 14 Charlie the Wonderdog

Sun Feb 15 The Choral
2pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Film, Drama/ History/ Music/ Romance/ War 14A Adults $11.95 1916. As war rages on the Western Front, the Choral Society in Ramsden, Yorkshire has lost most of its men to the army. The Choral’s ambitious committee, determined to press ahead, decides to recruit local young males to swell their ranks. They must also engage a new chorus master, and despite their suspicions that he has something to hide, their best bet seems to be Dr. Henry Guthrie (Ralph Fiennes) — driven, uncompromising, and recently returned from a career in Germany. 7:30 pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Live music, comedy. Adults $40. 7:30pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Live theatre, comedy. Adults $45. Skillful standup and improv created from audience suggestions mean that no two shows are the same. The talented comics are Canadian Comedy Award Winners, CBC darlings and Second City alums, including Elvira Kurt, Jennine Profeta, Diana Frances, Karen Parker, and Jordan Armstrong. Next Generation Theatre Workshop Tuesdays 5:30-7:30pm, January 13 to June 2, King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal.
