NOVEMBER

Sun Nov 1 Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte

2pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Stage to Screen. Adults $18.95. Overflowing with gorgeous melody and hilarious hijinks, Mozart’s satirical comedy of fickle young love is one of the composer’s most sublime creations. Phelim McDermott’s “colorful, inventive” (The New York Times) staging, inspired by Coney Island in the 1950s, sets the uproarious story at a boardwalk amusement park, where the two pairs of lovers at the heart of the tale find themselves on one emotional—and literal—thrill ride after another.

Wed Nov 4 The Delivery Line: Midwives on the Frontline

7pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Film. Documentary. Adults $11.95. Award-winning filmmaker Nance Ackerman will be present! At the edge of the earth, on the borders between cultures and countries, on the front lines of war, poverty, isolation and migration…women are still giving birth. And midwives are risking everything to help them. The Delivery Line documents the stories of midwives from around the globe –Afghanistan, Mexico, Colombia, Nigeria and Canada – who are saving mothers and their babies from the perils of their surroundings and creating a safe space to bring new life into the world.

Fri Nov 13, 14 & 15 Lost and Found

Fri & Sat @ 7pm, Sun at 3pm. King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Community Theatre. Adults $22. In this heartwarming comedy, you’ll laugh ‘til there are tears in your eyes. What is family? There’s the one we’re born into…and there’s the one we create. Packing up the family cottage proves challenging for two sisters who are each trying to unpack their mid-life crises. Enter the neighbour, Barry, who brings his own baggage to the party, but will ultimately warm everyone’s heart with his special brand of humour and insight. Lost and Found examines how friends can become family, and family can become friends.

Fri Nov 20 The Fugitives: Ridge

7:30pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Live Music. Often called the “battle that made Canada,” Vimy Ridge resulted in over 10,000 Canadian casualties. Through direct storytelling, verbatim theatre, and live music, Brendan McLeod examines misconceptions and varying perspectives around the battle, while drawing parallels to other formative events in our nation’s past. Featuring inventive musical interpretations of WWI soldier songs, Ridge probes difficult yet necessary questions about how and why we grieve. A vivid, kinetic ride through history, as well as an intimate, personal examination of our connection to the past, Ridge is a visceral work that passionately argues against the exploitation of young lives.
