7:30pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Live Music. Adults $60 When Matt Andersen steps on stage, he brings a lifetime of music to every note he plays. His latest album, The Hammer & The Rose, is a veritable garden of heart; a (mostly) delicate collection of tender folk and stirring soul numbers that find the New Brunswick-born songwriter thoughtfully tending to the most important things in life. Andersen’s stage presence is informed by decades of cutting his teeth in dusty clubs, dim-lit bars, and grand theatres all over the world, delivering moving performances that run the gamut from intimate to wall shaking. In the studio, he’s always brought the same attention to detail and commitment to craft as he has to his live show, and the result – a multi-faceted and poignant body of work – has led him to amass over 33 million streams on Spotify and 30 million views on YouTube.

Tue Dec 8 Adam Baldwin

7:30pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Live Music. Adults $45. Singer-songwriter Adam Baldwin has been a mainstay of the Atlantic Canada music scene for over a decade. With his sophomore full-length, Concertos & Serenades, Adam Baldwin – born and raised “inside these imaginary lines” that denote Nova Scotia – offers an east coast testimony that challenges the typical tourism marketing gloss. Through eight masterful yarns, the songwriter bears witness and pays tribute to a tradition of desperation: sinners and losers, perpetual failures, and down-and-out phantoms that haunt his home’s coastlines and back roads – without a passing judgement. Some of the tales happened, some didn’t, and most walk a tightrope between truth and fiction.

Thur Dec 10 Choose Joy

7pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Live Music. Adults $15. The Annapolis Basin Concert Band is directed by Jolene Buchholz, with guests: The AWEC Concert Band.

Fri Dec 11 Lennie Gallant: The Innkeeper’s Christmas

The highly popular multimedia show will feature songs from Lennie’s Christmas record, as well as favourites from his extensive catalogue of original songs. It’s an evening full of original Christmas songs, (and some traditional ones), a lot of laughs, great tales, and occasional surprises that will definitely put you in a Yuletide state of mind. This show tends to sell out, so book your tickets early.

Thur Dec 17 Puss in Boots: A Christmas Tail of Annapolis Royal

7pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Community Theatre. Adults $15. AWEC’s Wolfpack Players take the King’s Theatre stage to present Puss in Boots: A Christmas Tail of Annapolis Royal, written and directed by Heather Hiscock. This festive panto follows the quick-witted Puss in Boots and a cast of colourful local characters on a quest to save Annapolis Royal’s Christmas feast from the villainous Captain Gloom.

Sun Dec 20 Tara MacLean

7pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Live Music. Adults $40. Joined by the Bayfield String Quartet, Tara will share a luminous blend of classic, contemporary, and original songs, curating an unforgettable night. Through song and story, On This Winter’s Night will wrap the audience in the magic of the season — weaving warmth, wonder, and holiday spirit into every heart.

Wed Dec 23 The Nutcracker

6pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Royal Ballet Stage to Screen. Adults $18.95. The magician Herr Drosselmeyer is on a quest to save his nephew. Hans-Peter has been transformed into a Nutcracker doll by the wicked Queen of the Mice; the only way to break the spell is for the Nutcracker to defeat the Mouse King and find a girl to love and care for him. A flicker of hope comes to Drosselmeyer in the form of the young Clara, whom Drosselmeyer meets at the Stahlbaum’s Christmas party. With a swish of Drosselmeyer’s cape and a little bit of magic, a cosy festive gathering turns into a marvellous adventure.

Sun Dec 27 The Magic Flute

2pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Stage to screen. Met Opera. Adults $18.95. Mozart’s enchanting fable takes the stage in the Met’s abridged, English-language production by Julie Taymor—the Tony Award–winning director of Broadway’s The Lion King. Running under 90 minutes and dazzling audiences with vibrant sets, colorful costumes, and eye-popping puppetry, it’s the perfect show for the holidays and a delightful introduction to opera for audiences of all ages.

Wed Dec 30 Dufflebag Theatre: The Three Musketeers

2pm King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal. Children’s Theatre. Adults $20. DuffleBag Theatre returns with The Three Musketeers — a hilarious adventure in which audience members are cast in the lead roles. Yes, really! Professional actors guide the story and adapt on the spot as brave volunteers step into the boots of heroes, villains, and unlikely sidekicks. No two shows are ever the same.
